IDLY UPMA


       Idly is a staple food of South India.Left over idlies can be turned into idly upma,podi idly,chilly idly. I survived with idly and podi through out my college days.

In my hostel idly will be like a stone. But the left over idlies will turned out into idly upma for dinner. At that time you can see a huge crowd for this upma. We would reserve this upma for our friends,seniors. There is nothing special in making this upma. You can add carrots if you want it to look attractive.Small Onions gives a good taste to this upma.
INGREDIENTS

Left over idly

Big Onion
1
Carrot
1/2
Ginger
½ tsp
Green chilly
2 - 3
Mustard seeds
½ tsp
Urad dhal
½ tsp
Pepper Jeera powder
½ tsp
Oil   
1 Tsp
Salt
To Taste
Curry leaves
As needed
STEP BY STEP PICTURES
In a bowl pour water add a pinch of salt.Dip each idly in that water and crumble it.chop carrot,onion,ginger,green chilly.
In a kadai heat oil and temper with mustard seeds,urad dhal,,green chillies.ginger,hing,curry leaves.
Then add onions,carrot,salt.
Now add the crumbled idly.
A pinch of turmeric powder can be added.It is optional.
At last sprinkle pepper jeera powder.That's it.
 You can have this for your morning breakfast.
A hot cup of coffee/tea or a piece of fruit for a complete break fast.
